A bit of history

Xilam was created in 1995 by Marc du Pontavice, though its origins are intimately linked with Gaumont’s television production studio that Marc launched in 1991. Eight years later he bought it from Gaumont and Xilam was born.

    Acquisition of rights to Mr. Magoo, a major American cartoon series from the 1950’s.
    Signing of a strategic merchandizing agreement with Lansay as Master Toy partner for Oggy and the Cockroaches.
  • 2016
    Xilam’s new studios in Angoulême and Lyon are open for business.
    Launching of the productions of Oggy and the Cockroaches, Seasons 5, 6 and 7 and If I were an Animal…
    Internal organization of commercial and licensing departments.
  • 2015
    Purchase of the Armada studio in Hô-chi-min City, which becomes Xilam Vietnam.
    Launching of the production of Rolling with the Ronks!, Magic, Season II and Paprika.

    Launching of the Oggy YouTube channel.
  • 2013
    Launching of production for season #2 of Zig and Sharko and Season #2 of Floopaloo where are you? and development of 5 new series, slated to begin production in 2014 and 2015

    Re-purchasing of shares held by CITA (capital investment fund) by MDP Audiovisuel, Xilam Group and Xilam Animation and launching of production for the series Hubert and Takako, Season #2 of the Daltons and the animation feature, Oggy and the Cockroaches, the Movie (national release date, August 7th, 2013)

    Xilam brings in investment capital fund CITA to acquire 21.27% of the company and launches production for Shuriken School and the animated feature Lucky Luke, Go West!

    Launching of production for season #2 of Space Goofs

    Theater release of Kaena, the Prophecy, the first European animation feature created entirely in CGI + launching of production for Tupu

    Xilam enters Euronext’s second (stock) market Paris on February 7th, 2002
  • 2001
    Launching of production for the 2D/3D series Ratz.
  • 2000
    Launching of production for season #2 of Oggy and the Cockroaches, Cartouche and The New Adventures of Lucky Luke.
  • 1999
    Xilam Animation is registrated following acquisition of Gaumont Multimedia’s assets and catalogue as well as the animation rights for Lucky Luke, held by Dargaud

    Launching of production for The Magician and Oggy and the Cockroaches

    Launching of production for Dragon Flyz, Sky Dancers and Space Goofs.
